Silverplating Trophies
Vintage Silverplated Trophy with New Plating
As you can see in the before photo, the old silverplating was in bad condition making the lettering hard to read and the trophy unattractive. I also think that this had been lacquered which caused the yellowish coloring. The trophy needed some minor straightening as it was leaning to the side. It is always a bit risky to straighten a silverplate trophy as they are often made of soft white metal which can break easily. I was able to carefully straighten the cup at the base. The silver plater did an excellent job and the trophy now has a beautiful mirror-like finish. As you can see in the above photo, this made the lettering and decorative pattern more clear.

Description of repair will be available soon.
SILVERPLATE TROPHy from 1930 restored with new silverplating
The silverplating on this trophy was worn down to the base metal and could not be polished. The photo (left) is the appearance of the trophy before silverplating.
New silverplating was necessary to restore the appearance. In the close-up photo ( upper left) you can see the fidelity of the trophy lettering is still intact even with new silver plating.
I do not do silver plating but will take it to a local silver plating firm that does silver plating for my customers.

Antique Athletic Trophy Before and After SilverPlating
This athletic trophy arrived tarnished, bent, and more. I was told by the owner that when they were a kid 60 years ago, they set off a small fire in the trophy cup. Possibly this is why it seems to have a blistered appearance. The soft metal was easy to straighten and round the cup, then it was silver plated.
