Sterling Silver Trophy
Restoration, Repair, Polishing
This page shows a number of different sterling silver trophies that I have restored, repaired and polished.
Sterling silver Shreve Trophy full restored
This sterling silver Shreve trophy arrived with the finial crushed and damaged. The finial was not only bent, but with severe damage to the surface and the stem pushed up inside the leafy finial. This restoration required traditional silversmithing skills to reshape the finial. A new stem was spun and the finial reconstructed.
Sterling silver trophy Bowl Before and After Removing Dents and Polished
This very large Revere Bowl trophy arrived with the entire bottom of the bowl dented and the base pushed up into the bowl. This is the largest Revere Bowl I have ever seen. It was unbelievably difficult to push out the bottom of the bowl to a normal shape. After hours, days and weeks of work, the sterling silver bowl was polished.
tall sterling silver trophy with two handles - repaired and Polished.
This trophy arrived so discolored and dark with tarnish that I was surprised that it was sterling silver. The base was especially dark. Tarnish like this is impossible to hand polish. The right photo below shows a comparison of the polished surface and the black tarnish.
The base was also dented when it arrived, but with strategic and careful rubbing, I was able to work out the wrinkles in the base. I do no hammer on silver dents and wrinkles. The shape is restored by burnishing/rubbing the silver back to the appropriate and original shape.
